Hey, It's Meg. Water is the focus of our passion project this year. Sounds simple, right? Unfortunately in many parts of the world it's not so simple. Even right here in the States we can find undrinkable water.  For now- we are going to talk about the wonderful village of Imgibe in Jos, Nigeria, West Africa. I had the pleasure of working in the village at three separate orphanages.  My job was teaching and photographing all of the children for their sponsor photographs in 2014. I spent close to three months within the walls of this world. Bonding with the community and giving as much of myself as I could. There are many needs of children, men, and women in this area of the world.  Clean drinking water being the greatest need of all.

As many of you may or may not know, women in this country are still fighting for basic rights.  Rights that the majority take for granted, a few being: an education, voting and driving.  The most important role of a woman is caregiving. Therefore, women spend the majority of their day fetching water. Often with babies strapped to them.  If they are lucky the water comes from a well.  If they are blessed, that water is clean.  That is usually not the case.  Many women walking within the same routine each day suffer from not only wounds from having to carry a child on them with a blanket, or on their feet from shoes that don't fit or not having any at all, but even worst fall victim to rape. The rape culture in this state is so dangerous and prevalent that many of the mothers are taken away from families from not surviving the attack or the child brith. 

How can I help? That is what my first thought when hearing this devastating news. So here I am- we are. Meredith and I come hand in hand and ask for your help to make a difference. This year we want to drill a well of water for this village. I also am working closely with another organization to help educate a medical team to help make a dent in the child birth loss- children and mommas.
